The Community Came Together for Beautification Day in Virginia City

2026 Beautification Day in Virginia City was a success! The community came out and showed their pride in a big way after voting to have a Beautification Day. The Storey County Chamber of Commerce made a survey available for the community to vote for what improvements they'd like to see the most in their local community. Survey results voted for a Beautification Day!

The Storey County Chamber of Commerce and Virginia City Main Street hosted the event, which was made possible by our wonderful sponsors, donors, and event volunteers. On May 6, 2026, volunteers sanded and painted pillars, benches, and hung flower baskets up and down the boardwalk on C Street in Virginia City.

To keep the boardwalk cleaner, volunteers installed cigarette butt collectors and dog poop bag dispensers, just in time for Bonanza Days, the Chili on the Comstock and other popular Virginia City events.

A special thank you to all of our Beautification Day sponsors - your generosity made a big impact and we couldn't have done this without you!

A huge shout out to Board Chair Lisa Hevern, owner of Virginia City Off Road Experience, for volunteering her time to organize and run the event! Thank you to Members of the Storey County Chamber of Commerce for volunteering your time to invest in the economic vitality of our county.

The event was postponed from its original date, due to snow and rainy weather conditions, but the sun shone all day as volunteers fully committed to doing their part. As the sun set over the Comstock, volunteers gathered at the Spite House Picture Framing and Gallery for a volunteer appreciation after party. Chamber members and other volunteers enjoyed brats, hot dogs, potato salad and other sides with refreshments, relaxing together and catching up after a hard day's work.

Join the chamber, or learn more about the benefits as a individual, business, or community partner.
