Our Story: The Mission and Legacy of the Comstock Foundation

"Leadership at the Comstock Foundation is not just about preserving the past; it's about inspiring the future by protecting and celebrating the rich heritage that defines us."

The Genesis of the Comstock Foundation

In 2010, Comstock Mining, Inc. began a project to preserve the deteriorating resources of the National Historic Landmark, pledging 1% of bullion from the Lucerne Pit for preservation work. Led by Ron James and Corrado De Gasperis, they transformed the mining project into an organization dedicated to the preservation of the Comstock Legacy and established the Comstock Foundation for History and Culture.

Legal Status and Milestones

The Foundation gained legal status in Nevada in 2013 and held its first board meeting on July 24, 2013. On June 5, 2014, we received our 501(c)(3) status from the IRS, enhancing our mission. The Foundation operates as an independent nonprofit organization.
