Volunteer Committee Members Needed

Help Shape Three New Virginia City Projects

Virginia City Main Street Program

The Virginia City Main Street Program is seeking community members to serve on three short term, volunteer committees supporting newly awarded Nevada Main Street grants. These roles help shape how funds are used and how Virginia City’s heritage is preserved and shared.

These are not construction or performance roles. They are advisory, planning, and stewardship roles.

Open Volunteer Committees

Role: Committee members will help develop the eligibility criteria for façade improvement grants along C Street. This includes defining what types of exterior improvements may be funded, such as paint, windows, signage, and other visible features.
Focus: Fair standards, historic character, and community benefit.
Note: Committee members do not perform the work funded by the grant.

Street Scene Grant Committee
Role: Committee members will help select historic photographs and stories for installation in public spaces along Main Street.
Focus: Accurate history, thoughtful storytelling, and respectful public interpretation.

Sazerac Lying Club Grant Committee
Role: Committee members will support the planning and coordination of heritage focused, intergenerational storytelling events rooted in Virginia City’s long standing tall tale tradition.
Focus: Living heritage, community participation, and passing stories across generations.
